Screen there, done that
The thinnest and biggest screens to bring your pictures to life
Proving that size really does matter, Sony has released its latest flat-screen – actually, make that ridiculously flat-screen – television with a 3mm panel.
Sure, the OLED XEL-1’s screen is only 11 inches and it will set you back $6,999, but it’s very, very cool. It’s suspended by a thin aluminium side arm, making it look like it is suspended in space and the quality of the picture and brightness is not compromised by the unit’s thinness in any way. In a nod to the future of televisions the OLED XEL-1 also includes a USB input to easily display your own still images.
Urban legend has it that the idea for mirror televisions came from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, when a trader decided that going to the bathroom was just too long to be without information. Regardless of whether you want to shave with Kochie or soak in the tub with the footy on, Electric Mirror will have the set up for you. Models such as the Silhouette also include backlit features to ensure you will always look your best before the big presentation. The company is based in the States but will happily ship it out for you on request.
Love the environment and your TV? You don’t have to choose anymore, because the latest energy-saving offer from Sony – the BRAVIA WE5 LCD TV - uses less energy than two typical incandescent light-bulbs, allowing you to cut down the power bill while ramping up the enjoyment. With four HDMI inputs, an Ethernet connection and one USB port the WE5 costs $3,799.
